I use Skype as an integral part of my business - it is absolutely fantastic and I recommend it to anyone looking for great value!

Another tool I use is Dropbox - a great method of file sharing. You can get started for free, but as my business has grown I have upgraded and pay a small amount - and it's definitely well worth it!

There's so much around these days and it's worth checking out what's there and upgrading as better solutions come around!

There's a great new web-based bookkeeping software program called Small Business Essentials - www.smallbusinessessentials.com.au. It's free for businesses with limited clients and staff (you can upgrade to a plan as the business grows) and it's simple and effective to use. Being web-based, you can access it from anywhere (even from your phone, ipad, etc) and there's no software to download. Being free, definately worth trialling - easy import/export functions too for anyone who's already using another program and wants to migrate across.

I know many people in business who use Virtual Assistants... many advantages to this beginning with the ability to source someone who is skilled in the niche you are needing assistance with and you only pay for the time they work - plus no tax, workers comp etc etc... there are some good Aussie agencies who can help you out too - like VA Placements (I have used them) - who source quality staff at no cost! Virtual staff can do everything from phoning your clients to designing your marketing campaign...
