Seeking Australian book/gift distributor to wholesale my product overseas

Hello SBF,
I joined way back last year (July 2011) when I had just launched my website and product. I have been concentrating on the Aus market up until one month ago when I began to receive interest from UK/USA and Canada. However, even though they love the product, the turn off is the shipping costs just to ship out one item. For one item (under 500G) plus shipping to New York for example is AU$63-$65. The actual item sold online is AU$39.95.

I receive an email each week from someone overseas asking if it is available at Amazon, can I get it at Barnes & Noble, is there a distribution company we can contact, etc? Just wondering what my options are?

I have been successful in getting some small articles and press releases published overseas but I am aware that if they can't get it asap or cheaper, it is turning away potential sales. Not really not sure if there is company here in Aus that takes care of all that distribution stuff?

Thanks Jake, I wasn't really prepared to look at overseas market as I was still trying to establish a secure foundation here in Australia. However, the market is really small and personal development/self help/life coaching is huge in USA so that is where I being drawn to pursue. Thanks for your help
