Google Apps - Have you used them?

Just wondering who else out there has tried Google Apps?

I started using them around a week ago and am absolutely blown away by how brilliant it is - or more to the point, how I managed to survive without them.

So far I've set up Calendar, Gmail, a CRM & Docs. Everything syncs in beautifully and is so easy to use!!

I know there are some similar products out there from other suppliers, I haven't had a look at those (I'm a Google boy at heart) any experience with them?

It took a bit of effort to setup (I'd say around 4-5 hours or so) but 100% worth it!

Oh, and the support is amazing too =)

If you use gmail, it's a logical next step. However for myself, using Google apps would be doubling up as I already have calendar/tasks/appointments, CRM et al a la Sharepoint/Exchange/Business Contact Manager. The whole shebang comes with Small Business Server. SBS aint for the light hearted, but for teckies - it's a wet dream.

Absolutely Google apps rock. I ditched my whole microsoft setup last year (Exchange, Windows server, Office everything) and now use Google Apps for free. I also use Insightly with is an app that integrates with Google apps for projects / tasks / contacts etc. Great stuff.

    Just a few important tips
    1. you can re-point (not redirect) you domain name email to use google mail as you mail server - eg if you domain is abc.com.au then you can send/receive via google and still have the email send and receive from abc.com.au. The benefits are highly available mail and no spam.

    2. Create an igoogle page - the portal page will allow you to keep all you shortcuts in one place - Analytics, mail, calendar, news, todo list etc.

    3. Check out some of the Addon applications - free CRM, Mailers etc.

    4. Get an Android phone and extend Google Apps to your phone - Calendar, mail, Analytics etc

    Cheers

    Nick
