I ended up choosing quickbooks for my business - the last business i ran used MYOB but i found it hard to learn. So far QB has been good for me, though still getting used to finding some of the reports i want.

What I use doesn't matter. Doing the books is tantamount to medieval torture; I'd rather have teeth pulled than do it. Respect bookkeeping? Maybe the way it was done a hundred years ago, but today it's a messed up Frankenstein monster that totally confounds thanks to 'modern' software and 5 miles of bureaucratic red tape and tax laws.

MYOB is the form of torture I endure. I look forward to the day when I can find a competent accountant, the past 5 have been slack asses, and mobile bookkeeper that don't charge ridiculous fees.

    Hi Folks,

I guess its my first post!! Hoorah!! I reckon MYOB is still Australia's number 1 used software, even after all theior glitches in the previous roll-out. In their conference they also outlined the MYOB live version, which is pretty funky @ $25/month, and no upgrades required with payroll functionality.

Quicken is good, but seldom used - MOst of my clients are with MYOB. Xero is nice and easy - I believe that their are a few others in the online space.

I use other complicated systems too -- Open Practice for Law firms,

I think each of the book keeping solutions all thave their pros and cons - it's a matter of speaking to someone qualified and telling them exactly what you want, and they will suggest a solution to you.

When I first started my business, I used MYOB - it was an absolute nightmare because it wasn't suited to what I do.

Now I use Xero, my weekly book keeping time is halved and it works great for my business.
