    Cloud solutions. What's your opinion?

What is the thoughts of the masses when it comes to internet (cloud) solutions? I'm going to leave it really open and not restrict it to any particular areas or applications. I'm just interested in your opinions.

After having a huge amount of issues with MYOB (based on your fantastic recommendation) I decided to move to an "in the cloud" accounting software - Xero.

There was a few hiccups getting used to the program, but once the teething stages were over I've never looked back - I can do my accounting anywhere, in the office, at home, or even on my laptop sitting in a cafe. It's absolutely fantastic and the best move I ever made!

Xero is the bomb! The learning curve is measured in minutes not months, when compared to MYOB. The time taken to do every day tasks is dramatically reduced.

There are many other greats SaaS out there too, like Basecamp.

*aaS is the way of the future. Virtualisation will account for at least 60% of corporate offices world wide over the next few years. And we're moving very rapidly to complete IaaS (Infrastructure) solutions, reducing the TCO of IT hardware by heaps!

    Bring it on I say!

Vote one for Basecamp, I've just started using it but I'm loving it. 37 Signals make some great stuff.

Patrick - Yes, basically they are all accessible online - So no matter where you, what computer you are on they are safe.

Xero is a very reputable program, as are many of the other mentioned so I have no doubt they are safe. Regular backups, strong security etc.

Hey, Patrick here is an excerpt from one of my blogs
    So what is Cloud Computing?
Wikipedia definition states Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand. The term “cloud” is used as a metaphor for the Internet, based on the cloud drawing used in the past to represent the telephone network, and later to depict the Internet in computer network diagrams as an abstraction of the underlying infrastructure it represents. Typical cloud computing providers deliver common business applications online which are accessed from another web service or software like a web browser, while the software and data are stored on servers.

Burgo, I would put my money on your data being safer with Xero than on your own PC! Not just for general security, but for backup too.
