Well me story has changed a little since I last posted here. I have a customer on board after my first few days in bus (yay!). All proceeds going back into the business for now. Still have the FT job while working Samurai PT and building it up.

Our Mission: Making Tax Less Taxing for Small Business
I've been in business for 4 years and have been able to take out drawings to pay myself for a while now. In the beginning I had less overheads and so I paid myself more. These days I pay my team first and if there's enough, I'll pay myself. My intention is to reinvest as much as possible back into my business to enable to it to grow steadily without having to rely on family funds. My husband also works full-time and takes care of the household expenses, while my income (when I do take it out) looks after the fun stuff like holidays!
Thats what we used to do.
"shewhomustbe" had a part time then a full time as the kids started school.
Her job allowed us to eat and have a few days away here and there, whenever we could afford it, and I took out enough to pay the mortgage, wine and, electricty/gas/water and the remainder stayed in the business for new equipment. I always paid my subbies first and the expenses of the business second.
I also purchased detergents in bulk at below wholesale trying to save wherever possible long term.
Never allowed monthly accounts past 14 days, always pleading that I had kids to feed and needed the money urgent.
Used subbies rather than permanent staff, this reduced Insurance premiums and always paid subbies an agreed price for the job rather than an award. This was also an incentive for them to complete the job as soon as possible instead of sitting about waiting for the clock to tick over.
Look after those who work for you and they will look after your business........a number of times a subbies heard of a contract coming up and had conections, they would sometimes pester me to go for the contract though we were flat chat......getting this extra work gave them more and also we were often able to start another subbie

Fortunately/unfortunately, I'm not sure which, but my health restricts my ability to work. I receive small pension from Centrelink, which just keeps my head above waterAt this stage, any money from the business goes straight back in. My industry is way too competitive and seasonal not to keeping putting back in everything I can to keep growing.
I've got fingers crossed by end of year I may actually get something resembling a wage!
