BINGO !!! You see whilst they (the potential client) could go to a lot of house sitter listing type of websites ... and try to find someone to do it "in leiu of paying rent"... not many house sitters will do short stay bookings (anything under 2 weeks). This is where I excel and for the last year a lot of business has come from is people who only need someone to live in or do overnight stays for one or 4 nights. I have done live ins for a week or 10 days or something however generally (overall) it has been the short stays that we've done.
Also, I've actually been the dog walker or pet sitter even when someone has someone house sitting ! Seriously. They already have a house sitter however they have me come once a day to walk their dogs to just ensure that their dogs are walked because their house sitter is the housekeeper who isn't totally an animal lover. Or the house sitter is pregnant. Or the house sitter is a brother or other person they don't totally trust will do anything more than house sit.
Yes, this is the first of many drafts tho' everyone is right. I should get it done professionally.
I personally (as well as most people I've asked) seem to prefer the second brochure.
I am looking for pet owners of multiple pet households, active dogs, dogs with "issues" (usually dog aggressive dogs), elderly pets, pets that require medication, pets that just are used to company, etc.
I will still offer pet sitting where I do visits to peoples homes however it will now become a secondary part of my business (as I can't offer live in house sitting or overnight stays when I'm already booked thus can offer once, twice, three times daily pet sitting visits).
Lastly will be the dog walking ... and more focus will be on educating the house sit clients to use us for regular dog walking compared to any other service. Basically I would rather existing clients to use us for dog walking than other people.
