    When a competitor pinches content?

Hmm just wondering if anyone had wise words to say on this one. I guess fairly minor but a competitor has pinched some of my content and lowered prices to $1 less than mine.

    Suggestions? Ignore it?

I just noticed this today and it's kind of burning!

    Thanks,
    Maire

    Hi Maire,

Just noticed your a new member, don't forget to jump over to the new members introduction thread and tell us a little about yourself =)

In terms of your question - what exactly has he stolen? A $1 price different isn't going to be a big deterrent for customers (unless your selling something worth only a few dollars) but that a side, you have automatic copyright over any material you create - including content.

So if he has stolen it, he has breached copyright law and you are entitled to demand he take it down. Most people, once confronted will remove it (I had a printer in my local area copy a flyer design of mine literally to the tee, but just change the logo) but there are steps that can be taken if that is unsuccessful.

    Willl do Jake.

As it turns out... I made a comment on my business facebook page 'Hmm... that awkward moment when you take a look at a competitor's page and see they've stolen your content' and within an hour the competitor had taken down my content and replaced it with their own version (my idea, their version now instead of content lifted straight from my site).

    So - bit unsettling.

haha! I love the humorous approach you took, they are obviously monitoring what you are doing!

I wouldn't be too fussed about people copying you, it happens all the time in business. The thing is, they focus their energy on copying you why you are focusing on your energy on coming up with new ideas!

I know how you feel but try and look at it this way, if someone copies your content they obviously are too lazy and have no originality of their own and in business this counts for a lot. They will not succeed by stealing believe me.

Nice to meet you by the way, Maire. :-)
