    Adwords

Just had an Adwords specialist group take over my campaigns - last night I noticed my ads were showing very poorly and this morning not running at all so I've reenabled my own campaigns..

This is where my sales come from so a big problem for me if it's not working well. I don't know whether it's just teething probs or what.

I'd love to hear about other people's experiences.

Could be teething problems; but in the SEM industry, problems cost you sales and more money. Time to find another SEM agency to handle your account.

    Hi Marie,

What do you mean by the weren't showing properly? I'm not an expert in Pay Per Click, but my understanding is experts can sometimes find you lower paying keywords that still draw the same result.

What do the reports say? Are you still getting a similar amount of clicks / conversions but just paying less?

I mean my ads weren't showing *at all* for one campaign this morning and last night they were only showing now and then and in the right side bar (which nobody looks at) for my other campaign.

Hardly any clicks through to my website from adwords (I obsessively monitor my site).

They only took over the campaign from me and instant huge drop in performance. THey said they just need to work on keyword bids....

It's so complicated, yet strangely fascinating. I'm feeling a bit burnt by that experience.. (here I was fondly hoping for a massive increase in clicks) so I dont know if I'm ready for another stab at enlisting an adwords company.

Marie, the Indians are driving the price of SEM services WAY down. Local business cannot compete on a price basis. Developed countries have to pay workers a much higher hourly rate. To be competitive, SEM companies have slashed prices, and the quality of performance is also compromised.

Even the SEM experts need to spend a fair chunk of time to fine-tune your campaign. However small and micro businesses baulk at the costs for premium SEM services. If an SEM service is cheap, it's probably nasty too. If you're prepared to pay the experts for the time required to polish your campaign, you'll reap the rewards.

I would also recommend using an Australian SEM company. Locals understand our lingo better than other countries. When researching for potential SEM suppliers, search for their business name and exclude results from their website (business name -site:domainname.com.au). You'll find blog posts and forum discussions about what past customers are saying about their services.

They are Australian, and have been easy to deal with. I've had a very steep learning curve with Adwords and I think it's very complex. And it could have just been a slow day - it's a slow day today too, which sux.

I currently don't use Adwords though I have in the past. If you want to know more about it, google Perry Marshall. I follow him and he really knows his stuff.

With AdWords you always know what you get for your money. There are many tools and reports to tell you what is working and how you could further improve your campaign. You can fine-tune virtually all aspects of your campaign at any time. For example, you can change your budget, ad texts, keywords, geographic targeting, the days and times your ads will appear, and many more settings.
